Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service responded to four calls Friday, five Saturday and nine Sunday. They were on standby Friday and Saturday at the drag races.

There was one false alarm Saturday, a grass fire at 4:21 p.m. in the area of South U.S. 281 and SE 30 Road, and a possible electrical fire at 2:11 p.m. in the 1500 block of Tyler. Wheatland Electric responded to the Tyler Street call.

On Sunday firefighters responded to bomb scare at Walmart at 2:58 p.m. No explosive devices were detected. There was also a gas leak at 4:29 p.m. at 3023 18th St.


Great Bend Police

A non-injury crash was reported at 11:11 a.m. Friday at 11th and Baker.

Theft of a gun from a residence was reported at 1809 Jackson St.

Two individuals spoke to officers about phone scams.

Money was stolen from a prepaid card at 1211 Cleveland Ave.

A battery and criminal trespass was reported at 9:12 p.m. Friday at 1102 Morton St.

Criminal damage to property was reported at 1015 Wilson St.

Two flattened tires were reported at 1:26 a.m. Saturday at 2406 18th St.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck a legally parked vehicle at 1445 Park Ave.

A possible burglary in progress was reported at 12:45 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of McCormick St. Nothing was missing.

A non-injury crash was reported at 10:25 a.m. Sunday at McDonald’s, 3307 10th St.

A license plate was stolen from 2621 Forest Ave.

Police responded to the bomb threat at 2:38 p.m. Walmart.

At 5:15 p.m., a customer reported finding a signal flare in a shopping cart at Walmart. It was booked into evidence.

A theft was reported at Casey’s General Store, 2716 10th St.

Criminal damage to property was reported at 1100 Baker Ave.

A non-injury crash was reported at 10:36 p.m. at 10th and McKinley. 

A theft was reported at 1615 16th St.


Barton County Sheriff

A sex offense was reported Friday.

A highway fatality was reported at 5:21 p.m. Friday at 158 West K-4, Hoisington.

A theft was reported Sunday at 1608 Baker Ave., Great Bend.
