Kansas Highway Patrol
A 22-year-old Marion man died Sunday in a two-vehicle collision in Marion County.
The accident occurred at 3:05 p.m. on U.S. 56, 7 miles south of Herington. Kansas Highway Patrol reports an International truck driven by Shane A. Mascareno, 43, of Jetmore was northbound on U.S. 56 and crossed the center line into the west ditch. The driver brought the truck back onto the roadway where the attached trailer collided with a southbound Toyota pickup driven by Zachariah Antoszyk, who was not wearing a seat belt.
Mascareno was not injured. Antoszyk was initially taken to Herington Municipal Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters made 12 ambulance runs Friday, four Saturday and nine Sunday.
There was a field fire at 8:37 p.m. Saturday at U.S. 281 and SE 70 Road.
At 5:41 p.m. Sunday firefighters responded to a false alarm.

Barton County Sheriff
Illegally dumped trash was found Friday and Saturday at NE 100 Road and NE 10 Ave.
A car hit a deer in the 800 block of K-96 at 12:54 a.m. Saturday.
A large number of youths was reported drinking and shooting firearms at 9:23 p.m. Saturday in the area of SE 20 Road and SE 105 Ave. Kansas Highway Patrol and Ellinwood Police Department also responded. A case for aggravated assault was taken.
Several deer ran onto K-96 near NW 40 Ave. at 9:44 p.m. Saturday, and one was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jack Mitchell. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.
Someone damaged a stereo while attempting to steal it from a vehicle at 204 Coolidge St., it was reported Sunday.
A checkbook was reportedly stolen from a pickup at 5950 Anchor Way, some time Saturday night.

Great Bend Police
A vehicle driven by Terry Hickel was westbound on 10th St. at 3:47 p.m. Friday and struck Kevin Casey, who was crossing the street. No injuries were reported.
A known person allegedly stole several items from 4107 10th St. A notice to appear in municipal court was served.
A burglary was reported after someone cut the lock off a storage shed on Ninth St.
Someone shot the window on a Ford Taurus at 3725 Meadowlark Lane.
An eastbound vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Karen Garcia while it was stopped in traffic at 4:41 p.m. Saturday on 10th St., and then left the area.
Barton County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance at 2013 Baker Ave. at 5:04 p.m. Saturday.
Tailgate and fender flares were stolen from a Dodge pickup at 4200 Broadway Ave., it was reported Saturday. Loss was $1,000.
A vehicle driven by Casey Roberts was northbound in the 700 block of Frey St. near Harrison St. at 11:24 p.m. Saturday and struck a vehicle driven by Miguel Poblano, who was also northbound on Frey.
At 12:20 a.m. Sunday, an officer located a 1990 Ford pickup on 17th St. that had been reported stolen in Ellinwood. The pickup was impounded.
A vehicle driven by Esten Millard was westbound in the 2200 block of 19th St. at 2:33 a.m. Sunday when the driver lost control. The vehicle hit the curb, a fence and a utility pole before striking the Great Bend High School field house.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle at 2122 Madison St.
A DVD player and lock box were stolen from a vehicle at 2907 24th St., it was reported Sunday.
An injury accident was reported at 2:50 p.m. Sunday. A vehicle driven by Trey Schartz was westbound on 10th St. and reportedly ran a red light, striking a vehicle driven by James Maneth, who was northbound on Grant St. turning west. The Schartz vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by Windell Griffin, who was eastbound on 10th stopped in traffic.
Someone broke into a garage at 1205 Morton St. and stole bicycles, it was reported Sunday.
A narcotics arrest was made somewhere on Fruit St. at 12:37 a.m. Monday.
