Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters were sent to Long John Silver’s, 3800 10th St., at 1:14 p.m. Saturday for a small fire in the fryer. They also responded to 216 Hubbard St. at 9:44 that night, after the wind pulled the electrical entrance from the house.
There were nine ambulance runs on Wednesday, July 24, six Thursday, three Friday, seven Saturday an one Sunday.
Kansas Highway Patrol
Jason Drew O’Neal, 48, of Ness City, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita following a motorcycle accident Tuesday night, 11 miles south of Hays in Ellis County. O’Neal was southbound on U.S. 183, driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. It went off the road at 9:43 p.m., entered the west ditch at a high rate of speed and came to a stop in the field. A hospital spokesman said O’Neal was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.
Great Bend Police
A hit-and-run vehicle, described as an unknown make of pickup with an unknown trailer, was westbound in the 4400 block of 10th St. and struck a vehicle driven by Clarence Tuzicka while changing lanes at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday.
An E-Z-GO golf cart with a red and white Chief’s sticker and a red 5 by 6 Diamond T trailer were reportedly stolen from 3401 Forest Ave.
A gas skip involving a maroon pickup at 1000 Main was reported at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday.
