Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made four ambulance runs on Tuesday. There were two fire calls.
At 8:16 a.m. units responded to a working structure fire at 2523 11th. Upon arrival found a moderate amount of black smoke showing from the back of the house.
Firefighters entered the smoked filled house and found fire in the back bedroom. The fire was brought under controlled and extinguished.
The State was contacted to come in and assist with investigation. The occupant was Tyler Deforest and stated he left the house on an errand and when he returned he saw smoke coming from the heating ducts on the wall and the door on the back bedroom.
He exited the house and 911 was contacted by the neighbor. The cause of the fire was electrical in origin. There were no injuries and units were on the scene for two hours and damage is estimated in excess of $10,000.
AT 11:25 a.m. units responded to 40 NW 80 Ave. for a ditch fire that may have spread to a stubble field.
Upon arrival found a large stubble fire on the west side. Albert Fire Department also responded and units worked together in the high wind to protect a house and extinguish the fire. Great Bend was on the scene for an hour however Albert remained on the scene to extinguish hot spots.

A non-injury accident was reported at 18th and Holland St.
A narcotics violation was reported at 3113 Williams St. A resident inside the house was huffing.
Theft of fuel was reported at Kwik Shop located at 3907 Broadway Ave.
A non-injury accident was reported at 17th and McKinley St.
A non-injury accident was reported at Veterans Park West located at 4800 17th St.
Theft was reported at Taco Bell located at 3607 10th St.
Burglary was reported at 3215 Broadway Ave.
Barton County Sheriff
A non-injury accident was reported at NW 130 Ave. and K-96.
Burglary was reported at 304 East 3rd St. in Ellinwood.
