OLMITZ —  Leon Gerard Bahr, 68, died April 27, 2024, at his home in Olmitz, Kan. He was born Sept. 30, 1955, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of Charles and Cecilia (Beran) Bahr. Leon attended St. Ann’s Catholic School and graduated from Otis-Bison High School in 1973. He then attended Barton Community College.

Leon worked as a welder at Rice Engineering in Great Bend for awhile, but his real love was farming and working on the family farm south of Olmitz.

He was a man of faith, and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by sisters, Judy Getty (Larry) of Hays, and Jane Brack (Bruce), of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; brother-in-law, Howard Morgan (Gert) of Marion; an uncle, Bob Bahr (Kathy) of Spring, Texas; an aunt, Rose Ann Wondra, of Hoisington, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death, his parents; sisters, Helen Morgan and Mary Lou Morgan; a niece, Kimberley Brack, and an infant nephew, Kevin Morgan.

Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and until service, there will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, with Vigil and Knights of Columbus Rosary to begin at 6 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kan., celebrated by Father Warren Stecklein. Inurnment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Ann Cemetery Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
