Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made two ambulance runs on Wednesday. There was one fire call.
At 7:28 p.m. units responded to 1416 11 St. for a car fire.
Upon arrival units found flames coming from under the hood area of a 1997 Pontiac 4 door passenger car.
The owner was spraying water on the flames with a garden hose. Firefighters extinguished the fire that also had extended into the dash of the passenger compartment.
The owner stated he was driving down the street when the car started on fire under the hood. He then pushed the car up the street in front of a friend’s house and used his garden hose on the fire.
The fire appears to have originated in the engine compartment. The car was a total loss.

Great Bend Police
Theft of a bike was reported at 5954 Birchwood Drive.
A non-injury accident was reported at 2618 Paseo Drive.
Theft of reels was reported at Petroleum Electric Services located at 701 Adams St.
Theft of a wallet was reported at the Great Bend Convention Center located at 3017 10th St.
Theft of a cell phone was reported at 4800 17th St.
