Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made nine ambulance runs Tuesday.
At 6:14 a.m. they responded to Mid America Feed Yard, 251 NW 10 Ave., for a report of a row of large square hay bales on fire. They were able to keep the fire from spreading while employees of the feed yard moved the smoldering hay away from the rest of the hay stack. Eight bales were damaged.

Barton County Sheriff
A motorist reported her vehicle was hit by a bucket that fell off another vehicle between Pawnee Rock and Dundee at 11 a.m. Monday.
A chain saw was reportedly stolen from 1073 NW 10 Ave.
A piece of metal broke the front window on a vehicle in the 300 block of East U.S. 56 at 3:44 p.m. Monday. Kansas Highway Patrol responded.
A broken down semi-trailer with an oversize load was partially in the road in the 900 block of East Barton County Road at 10:30 p.m. Monday. The trailer was impounded because it caused damage to the roadway. The driver contacted the sheriff’s office at 8:14 a.m. Tuesday.
The Golden Belt Humane Society and BCSO responded to a report of neglected horses on South U.S. 281 at 9:52 a.m. Tuesday.


Great Bend Police
Someone shot a bullet through the window of the business at 2301 10th St. some time Sunday night.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at 1110 Third St. at 9:35 a.m. Monday. They arrested Veronica Hernandez because she allegedly threatened her husband with a knife. She was booked into the Barton County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault, with bond set at $20,000.
A vehicle driven by Rita Thurber was eastbound in the 3000 block of 10th St. at 11:52 a.m. Monday and struck a vehicle driven by Ronald DeVorss, who was also eastbound.
A burglary was reported by a neighbor, who said items were missing from a garage on 12th St.
Check blanks were reportedly stolen from a vehicle at 4050 24th St.
Theft of a boys bike from 1219 Polk St. was reported Tuesday. Loss was $125.
A juvenile pedestrian was reportedly injured when struck by a vehicle that was backing up at 2251 Williams St. at 1:09 p.m. Tuesday.
Meat was reportedly stolen from 1811 Main St.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of 21st St.
