Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made six ambulance runs on Monday and seven on Tuesday. There was one fire call.
At 10:58 a.m. units were dispatched to an automatic smoke detector activation at 912 Holland St.
Upon arrival the owner of the house was exiting the front door coughing. No smoke or flames were visible from the street, but there was light smoke inside. Firefighters found a space heater that was plugged in using a lightweight extension cord that had shorted out. Damage was limited to the area around the heater, with light smoke throughout the house. The occupant was checked out by EMS.
