Great Bend Fire/EMS
Firefighters made nine ambulance runs on Friday, nine on Saturday and five on Sunday. There were six fire calls over the weekend.
On Friday at 12:21 p.m. units responded to a gas leak at 3008 10th St. Upon arrival, units found a gas line had been struck by a backhoe during construction. The gas company was advised and able to clamp the leak and repair the damage and at 11:46 a.m. units responded to 350 30 road (land fill) for a trash fire.
On Saturday units responded to a possible lighting strike in the 2200 block of Harrison. Upon arrival, units were unable to locate any immediate dangers. It was determined that it was a power pole in front of 2115 Harrison that was hit by lighting. The power company was on the scene to assist.
On Sunday at 8:49 a.m. units responded to 1 NE 60 avenue for a truck on its side leaking oil. Absorbent was used to contain the spill. At 10:58 a.m. units respond to Monroe and Madison for an arcing power lines. Upon arrival, units could not find anything out of the ordinary. The power company was on scene and was going to trim some trees around the lines to prevent any arcing caused by the wind blowing and at 1:42 a.m. units responded to 5200 Ridgeway for report of arcing wires. Upon arrival, units found arcing power equipment in the easement. The power company was notified to correct the problem.

Theft of fuel was reported at Zip Stop located at 3620 10th St.
Theft of fuel was reported at Kwik Shop located at 2334 Main St.
