Great Bend Fire/EMS

Emergency Medical Service responded to five calls on Thursday, Nov. 14, seven on Friday, four on Saturday, four on Sunday and four on Monday.

Fire calls included a small alarm malfunction on Saturday, an illegal fire pit burning in the 100 block of Chestnut St. at 9:17 p.m. Sunday, and a small chemical spill in the 1800 block of Cottonwood Drive at 12:37 a.m. Monday. The spill was covered with HiDri absorbent. Firefighters also responded to a residential smoke smell but found no fire.


Barton County Sheriff

A K-9 unit was dispatched to 18th and Madison St., Great Bend, at 2:46 a.m. Monday.

A non-injury crash was reported at 6:46 a.m. at South U.S. 281 and SE 50 Road, Great Bend.

An injury crash was reported at 4:41 p.m. at North Vine St. and West 1st St., Hoisington.

A non-injury crash was reported at 5:15 p.m. at NE 60 Road and North U.S. 281, Great Bend.

A non-injury crash was reported at 6 p.m. at NW 110 Road and NW 40 Ave., Great Bend.

There was an animal complaint at SE 30 Road and SE 60 Ave., Great Bend.

A K-9 officer was called to Casey’s General Store, 2716 10th St., Great Bend, after a traffic stop there at 9:18 p.m.


Great Bend Police

Theft of meds was reported Monday in the 1300 block of Jefferson St. 

Criminal damage to property was reported at 2616 12th St.

A non-injury crash was reported at 11:39 p.m. at Walmart.

A K-9 unit was called to a traffic stop at 12:55 p.m. at 11th and Washington.

A hit-and-run crash was reported at 2:56 p.m. at The University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus, 514 Cleveland.

A K-9 unit was called to a traffic stop at Walmart at 3:13 p.m.

A theft and criminal damage to property were reported at 2500 17th St.

Police responded to an animal complaint at 9th and Heizer St.

A hit-and-run crash was reported at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of Adams St. A vehicle turned into a yard and struck a garage and a wooden fence.

Police responded to an animal complaint in the 3500 block of 10th St.
