Great Bend Fire/EMS

Firefighters responded to a house fire at 5:12 p.m. Thursday at 2106 27th St. and a bomb scare at 3:17 p.m. at the University of Kansas Health Systems Great Bend Campus, 514 Cleveland St. Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Great Bend Police Department also responded to these calls.

The Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office visited the fire scene Thursday evening but at last report the cause of the fire was unknown. It appeared to start in the location of the rear deck/back porch. One person was flown to a Wichita hospital with burn injuries; no information on the individual’s condition was available. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

After the bomb threat, the hospital was searched and nothing was found.

Emergency Medical Service responded to 11 calls.


Barton County Sheriff

A fraud case was reported Thursday at Marks Custom Signs, 67 B NE 20 Road.

A theft was reported in the 1000 block of NE 160 Ave., Claflin.


Great Bend Police

A fraud case was reported Thursday at The Reserves at Trail Ridge, 188 Grant St. Apt. 118.

A non-injury crash was reported at 2:56 p.m. at 11th and Main.
