PCSO responds to alarm malfunction at Larned State Hospital

LARNED — A malfunctioning alarm at Larned State Hospital elicited a response from the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Department late Wednesday evening. The hospital conducted an emergency count of the patient populations and all members of the current populations were accounted for, the PCSO reported.

According to activity reports, the PCSO was alerted by LSH at approximately 10:12 p.m., with subsequent alerts issued at 10:44 and 11:48 p.m. PCSO reported that the alarm system had been activated and brought off-line, then reactivated when back on-line. 

Notification of law enforcement while an emergency count is engaged is part of standard reporting procedure.
