Pedestrian hit by semi after running from trooper
KHP patch

ELLSWORTH COUNTY — A pedestrian was outside of his vehicle while Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were conducting a traffic stop Friday morning in Ellsworth County. For an unknown reason, the man ran to the north into the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 and he was struck by a semi.  KHP reports the crash occurred at 8:38 a.m. on July 28, near mile 222.9, about 8.75 miles north/northeast of Ellsworth.

Mark E. Carte, 50, from Henderson, Nevada, was taken to Salina Regional Health Center with what appeared to be minor injuries.  The semi driver, Corey Turner from Terrell, Texas, was not injured.
