The Barton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 300 block of Cottonwood Dr. at 6:58 p.m. Saturday after a party said a viscous brown pit bull tried to attack his grandson and was running at large. The dog had been caught and put up before two deputies and someone from the Golden Belt Humane Society arrived. Officers spoke to the owner of the dog who said it was a puppy and it would be put up and the fence fixed. Before leaving, an officer reported the dog licked his hand.
