ROZEL — Two semitrailers collided at 10:25 a.m. Monday in Pawnee County, 3 miles east of Rozel on K-156.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 2004 Kenworth driven by Steven Doyle, 53, of Larned, was westbound on the highway followed by a 2017 Peterbilt driven by Jeremy Essmiller, 26, of Pawnee Rock. Doyle slowed and began turning south onto 250 Ave. Essmiller began slowing but then attempted to pass the other semitrailer on the right side.

The driver’s side of Essmiller’s trailer collided with the rear passenger side corner of Doyle’s trailer. Both vehicles remained connected and upright as they entered the south ditch, where they came to rest.

Essmiller had no apparent injury. Doyle was taken to the Pawnee Valley Hospital in Larned with a suspected minor injury. Both were wearing seat belts.
