Man flown to Wichita after one-vehicle accident

Rollin J. Anderson, 33, from Great Bend was injured in a one-vehicle accident around 3:35 p.m. Thursday. Anderson was driving north on U.S. 281 in Stafford County, 2.6 miles north of the junction with U.S. 50, when his pickup crossed left of center and struck a guardrail. The pickup continued north and entered a railroad crossing, went airborne and dropped 32 feet, coming to rest on its wheels.

Anderson was not wearing a seat belt. He was flown to Via Christi Medical Center’s St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. A spokeswoman for Via Christi said Anderson was in fair condition Saturday evening.

 

Kansas Highway Patrol

Maurice A. Yarmer, 55, from Russell, was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington Friday after his pickup went off a Barton County Road. The accident occurred at 9:40 a.m. in the 1100 block of NW 230 Road, about four miles north and 1.5 miles west of Galatia. Yarmer was not wearing a seat belt when the westbound Dodge Ram entered the ditch and then struck a bridge. He sustained possible injury.

 

Great Bend Police

Someone cut a tire on an International trailer at 625 Baker Ave., it was reported Thursday.

A hit-and-run vehicle struck another vehicle in the parking lot at 4107 10th St. on Thursday.

Someone shot at one of the windows in the business at 2410 Main A, it was reported Thursday.

A vehicle driven by Sarah Philbern was backing westbound in the 1500 block of Tyler St. at 11:04 a.m. Thursday and struck a parked vehicle.

Zachary Mayers was driving east on 10th St. at 3:18 p.m. Thursday and struck another eastbound vehicle, driven by Rosebelinda Ramipez-Lomas, that was also eastbound and slowing in traffic near Kansas Ave.

A $20.06 gas skip at 2337 Washington St. was reported at 6:02 p.m. Thursday.

An animal complaint in the 1000 block of Williams St. was reported at 3:30 a.m. when someone saw a porcupine in the back yard.

 

Barton County Sheriff

Two hundred feet of welding cable was stolen from a welder at 118 Hoisington Ave., Susank, along with 25 gallons of fuel, it was reported Thursday.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made seven ambulance runs on Thursday. There was one unauthorized burn in the county.
