Two Great Bend teens injured in Monday evening crash

Two Great Bend teens received minor injuries when their vehicles collided north of Great Bend Monday evening.

According a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Dodge Durango driven by 16-year-old Kamryn Shae Johns of Great Bend was traveling southbound in the 200 block of N. Washington Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Monday. The vehicle she was driving left the roadway to the right. Johns over-corrected back onto the roadway, traveling left of center, and struck a 2006 Kia Sorrento driven by 16-year-old Jonathan Ruiz, also of Great Bend. Both vehicles came to rest in the east ditch.

Both Johns and Ruiz were transported to University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus with suspected minor injuries. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash.
