The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle accident at 1:05 p.m. Sunday in the 10 block of NW 30 Road, where a 2003 Ford Explorer sport truck was on its side.
Joseph Houle, 19, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, was driving east when the vehicle went left of center and into the north ditch. Houle over-corrected his steering and the Explorer started to skid across the roadway to the south ditch where it overturned 1.5 times, coming to rest on the driver’s side door.
Houle was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital where he was treated for minor cuts. Passenger Allison Wilkinson, 24, of Great Bend, was transported to Great Bend Regional for neck and back pain. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
BCSO was assisted by Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance, Kansas Highway Patrol and Doonan’s towing.
