Two vehicle collision injures Great Bend man

HOISINGTON — Martin Morgenstern, 97, of Great Bend, was injured Friday when the car he was driving was hit by a pickup that crossed the center line in the 400 block of South Main in Hoisington.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports the other driver, Danton M. Riedl, 20, of Hoisington, fell asleep. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The accident occurred at 3:05 p.m. as Riedl was driving north in a 2000 Dodge Ram.

Morgenstern was driving a 2005 Cadillac DeVille. It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt. He was extracted from the car and transported by Hoisington Emergency Medical Service to Clara Barton Hospital, with undetermined injuries.

Kansas Highway Patrol, Hoisington Ambulance and the Hoisington Police Department assisted.
