Updated: 3:22 p.m. Tuesday:

The U.S. 56 bridge has reopened to traffic today. However, this bridge will need to be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repair work. During this closure, motorists should use U.S. 183 or K-156 as a detour.

LARNED — The U.S. 56 bridge over the Pawnee River at Larned was closed due to a crash earlier Tuesday morning, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. The closing notice was issued shortly before 11 a.m.

It was unknown at that time how long the bridge in Pawnee County would need to be closed.

Motorists were advised to use U.S. 183 or K-156 as a detour.

KDOT appreciates motorists’ patience.
