Three people were taken to the Great Bend hospital around 1:44 p.m. Monday after a Nissan Rogue struck a Dodge Charger that was backing up to make a U-turn on K-96, 5 miles east of Albert.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports Allen L. Mclain, 68, of Ransom, was driving the westbound 2018 Nissan. After it struck the Dodge, the vehicle came to rest in the north ditch at the tree line. Allen Mclain and passenger Barbara A. Mclain, 65, were taken to The University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus with what were believed to be serious injuries. They were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The Dodge was driven by Keaton I. Goering, 24, of Ellinwood, who was also taken to the Great Bend hospital with apparently minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The vehicles were removed by Marshall Towing.
