TV LAND If you enjoy celebrity interviews, social commentary, comedy and a lot of silliness, you probably love post-10-p.m. television offerings.
The landscape of late night TV has changed in recent years when people no longer come home and flip on their televisions for hours of mindlessly accepting what the networks are providing, these hosts have to ensure they have staying power through the coming days endless content.
So whether you watch when your insomnia kicks in or the next day during a break at work, here are some of your best options:
The Jameses
"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon"
Fallons main schtick is making up games and skits that go viral on YouTube the next day. His softball, often boring interviews are certainly not the main event when there are History of Rap, Lip Sync Battle and Stranger Strings clips to watch the next morning.
As such, Fallen hasnt made himself appointment television as much as a conversation piece about what ridiculous, embarrassing thing a celebrity did on his show last night.
"Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
With a couple of recognizable repeat-offenders, like his ongoing feud with Matt Damon and celebrities reading mean tweets about themselves, Kimmel manages to stay in the conversation. Hes not quite as regular a viral sensation, but he quietly gets to do whatever he wants on his show like making America look really stupid in his Lie Witness News segments.
"The Late Late Show with James Corden"
The polarizing Carpool Karaoke segments that Corden does are, love them or hate them, giving him a huge boost. He himself is a great singer, and hes had some legitimately talented stars in his car. And some very game politicians. The rest of the show is pretty much a giant question mark, although Corden himself is a charming host.
The imports
"Last Week Tonight with John Oliver"
For truly great journalism and social commentary, this is the only show. His segments on everything from Miss America to the refugee crisis are informative, fact-filled and entertaining. Oliver is one of the few late-night voices pointing out the chaos and nonsense in the world in an informative way.
"The Graham Norton Show"
This is possibly the only classic chat show left. With its throwback set and silly but not physical games, it puts unlikely people on a couch together for a bit of conversation. Nortons ability to get hilarious, sometimes embarrassing stories out of his guests makes it worth the watch.
Of course, there are many late-night TV options. Which show do you tune into? Let us know in the comments.
