LOS ANGELES Some women choose hospitals; others opt to give birth at home. But one woman found herself delivering her baby girl 30,000 feet in the air.

The Taiwanese woman only 32 weeks pregnant was about six hours into a 19-hour China Airlines flight from Bali to Los Angeles last week when her water broke, according to ABC News. She immediately alerted the crew, who requested help from fellow passengers.

Luckily, a doctor was on board and quickly jumped to her assistance. Passengers stayed quiet during the labor and delivery to try to keep the woman calm, ABC reports. She bit down on blankets when the pain grew too intense.

The woman is tough as nails, said Amira Rajput, a fellow passenger who took a cellphone video of the flight attendants and the new healthy baby girl after the delivery. It was super chill. People were super quiet and calm so that this woman could have a stress-free experience.

Rajputs video shows thrilled flight attendants holding the healthy baby girl as passengers cheered and clapped in the background.

The pilot requested an emergency landing in Alaska, where the new mother and daughter were taken to the hospital for checkups. Both were healthy and unharmed, BBC News reports.

But how does one determine nationality when one is born over the Pacific? The Daily News reports the citizenship of the new baby will be determined by the birth certificate issued by the Anchorage hospital.

The plane refueled and took off toward Los Angeles, arriving just three hours behind schedule.
