Be careful which toys you buy your children for the holidays this year. Some are more dangerous than others.

World Against Toys Causing Harm released its annual list of the 10 worst toys, which is normally released around the holiday shopping season.

All toys on the list are considered dangerous for children for reasons such as choking and causing injuries.

James Swartz, the executive director of World Against Toys Causing Harm, said the packaging helps define how safe the toys are for children, according to Reuters.

Really, look at the packaging, Swartz said. Is it realistic to use the product as the manufacturer intends? If the answer is no, its better to stay away from it.

So what made this years most-dangerous list? Heres a quick breakdown.

  • Pull Along Pony The toy contains a 19-inch cord, which can cause strangulation and entanglement injuries.

  • Hand Fidgetz spinners These popular fidget spinners are a potential choking hazard for children because of their small parts.

  • Oval Xylophone The drumstick handle included in this toy could be swallowed, leading to choking and ingestion injuries.

  • Jetts Heel Wheels These wheels, which can be attached to shoes, may cause fire injuries from the sparks they create.

You can also see the entire list of dangerous toys over at the WATCH website.

Joan Lawrence, trade group the Toy Associations senior vice president of safety standards and regulatory affairs, said the list is needlessly frightening and that parents should pay attention to age recommendations on packaging and take them seriously, according to Reuters.

If youre going to buy a bicycle there are instructions on how to safely use the bicycle, like wearing a helmet, Lawrence told Reuters. We dont say, Dont buy the bicycle. What we do is find ways to enjoy it safely.
