Thirty Country Music Association award-winning acts, three country songs, a Grammy winning director and a decorated songwriter/producer came together for the Forever Country music video to celebrate the 50th Annual CMA Awards.
In the video, classic country acts like Alabama, Alan Jackson and George Strait combine with Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley and others to sing the mash-up. It opens with Brad Paisley singing John Denvers Take Me Home, Country Roads, quickly joined by Keith Urban and Tim McGraw. Kasey Musgraves begins singing Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You" as the second song in the medley before Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts seamlessly introduce On the Road Again by Willie Nelson.
With the help of green screens, the artists travel around the world, visiting England, the Eiffel Tower and the CMA stage before ending in a country field. Forever Country is a tribute to country music through the past 50 years. It shows the roots of country music and mixes them with newer artists like Carrie Underwood and Brett Eldredge. In a behind the scenes video by Taste of Country, McGraw says, All the people that were involved were people that we love and people that we loved 10 years ago, 20 years ago and today.
The video was directed by Joseph Kahn, who also directed Bad Blood by Taylor Swift, and produced by popular songwriter Shane McAnally. The CMA Awards will broadcast Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.
