ELLINWOOD — Allen Edward Schartz, 71, passed away on April 11, 2016, in Ellinwood. Born on March 12, 1945, he was the son of Werner and Charlotte (Harmon) Schartz. He was a lifetime Ellinwood resident graduating from Ellinwood High School in 1963.
Mr. Schartz was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis and wife Candace Schartz and children Xander and Kenzie, of Grove, Okla., and Kory Schartz and son Henry, of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and a brother, Clayton and wife Janet Schartz, of Chandler, Ariz.. He is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Straub, and brothers, Raymond “Junior” Schartz, Max Schartz, and Dennis Schartz
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. on Friday, with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m., at Minnis Chapel. Altar society will pray Rosary at 3 p.m. also Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Scholarship fund or American Legion project fund in care of the funeral home.
