HOISINGTON — Alvena Aalie Mondt, 68, died July 4 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. Born Jan. 26, 1944, at Ellis, she was the daughter of William Marion Sr. & Donna Sue (Wade) Mondt. A Hoisington resident, she graduated from Delphos High School. She then attended Barton County Community College and graduated from Marymount College in Salina with her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She worked as an addiction counselor until her retirement.
She was a member of Unity Church and A.A. She enjoyed reading, gardening and playing with her great-grandchildren and cats. Alvena also recognized as a senior volunteer in Hoisington.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammie Yeakley and husband Steve, Hoisington, Konnie Smith and husband Kent, Salina, and Michelle Stancher, Hoisington; three sisters, Marilyn Hoesli and husband Doug, Salina, Ada Jane Leake and husband Frank, Tulsa, Okla., and Jan McClellan and husband Craig, Glasco; one brother, William Mondt Jr. and wife Linda, Salina; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, in Minneapolis. Inurnment will be at the Delphos Cemetery. Donations to memorial funds for Hubbard Street A.A. or the American Heart Association and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home.
