Alvin Emil Muth, 90, passed away Sept. 15, 2023, at Medicalodges, Great Bend, Kan. He was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Hoisington, Kan., to Hubert and Amelia “Molly” (Boxberger) Muth. Alvin married Vera Korte on Aug. 8, 1954, in Kinsley, Kan. She passed on July 24, 2023.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Alvin worked as a machinist for Great Bend Industries. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend and Sunflower Polka Club. Alvin enjoyed polka dancing and taking great care of his Cadillacs.
Survivors include, a daughter, Denise Appel and husband Rich of Rush Center, Kan.; a son, Darren Muth and wife Ruth of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a sister, Marilyn Rice of Greenwood, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Dianna Lynn Muth; and a sister, Arlene Wilhelm.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Adam Wutka presiding. Interment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Medicalodges of Great Bend or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
