CHASE - Alvin Walter Heine, 93, died on July 3rd.  He was born November 27, 1926 at the family home in rural Chase, KS to Walter and Alma Panning Heine.  The home burned down on Christmas Eve, one month after he was born, but the family re-built and it was his home for 90 years.  Then he moved to an assisted living facility in Kansas City.  Dad was a farmer all his life.  He lived through the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, floods, drought, hail and tornadoes and took life in stride.  Alvin loved hunting and fishing and being with family, friends, and neighbors.  He loved two kinds of pie – hot or cold.  He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinwood and the Chase High School Alumni Association.

Alvin is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; parents, Walter and Alma; and sisters, Dorothy, Velma and Ruth.  Alvin is survived by two sons, Michael (Nancy) of Galena, Missouri and Glenn (Linda) of rural Ellinwood; a daughter Brenda (Richard) of Springville Utah; 5 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, July 9th at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS with Rev. Thomas Thierfelder & Rev. Kenton Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Chase, KS. Visitation will be 11-7 PM with family present from 6-7 at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, KS on July 8th.
