Amanda F. VanSteenburgh 1919-2011
Amanda Frances VanSteenburgh, 91, died April 16 at Promise Regional Hospital in Hutchinson.
She was born May 27, 1919 in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of Fred E. Summers and Mayme Clemmons.  On July 24, 1939, she married George O. VanSteenburgh in Lexington, Mo. He died on Aug. 16, 1993. A Great Bend resident, formerly of Oklahoma, Slater,  Mo., Chase and Ellinwood, she worked for Fuller Brush, where she retired in 1987 and later as a cashier at Wal-Mart.
Mrs. VanSteenburgh was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Ellinwood.
Survivors include two sons,  Freddie and Evelyn VanSteenburgh, Hoisington; and George and Heidi VanSteenburgh, Great Bend; four daughters, Sherry and Billy Littrel, Billlye Dellinger, Jacque and Jim Fowler and Marti Wagnon, all of Great Bend; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, L.D. Davis, F. E. Summers, Jack Summers and H.C. Summers; and a son-in-law, Hal Wagnon Jr.
Funeral services will be at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Ellinwood with the Rev. Jason Winget officiating. Burial will be at the Lakin-Commanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kimple Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the VanSteenburgh Family Memorial in care of the funeral home.
