LYONS — Ann Martinie, 81, of Lyons, passed away Jan. 12, 2018 at Hospital District 1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born Oct. 6, 1936 in Lyons, the daughter of Frank and Glenys (Roper) Palmer. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1954. Ann resided in Lyons most of her life and also in Manhattan from 1997 until 2014. She was a bank teller at Coronado Bank, Lyons and Commerce Bank, Manhattan. She had also worked at Hogan’s Pharmacy, Lyons and was a homemaker.
Ann was a member of First United Methodist Churches of Lyons and Manhattan, and United Methodist Women. On June 1, 1956, she married Curtis Martinie in Lyons. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Ann is survived by her sons, Brian (Sherri) Martinie and Doug (Maggi) Martinie all of Manhattan; daughters, Brenda (Vince) Friess of Great Bend, and Debra (Kim) Anderson of Wichita, brothers, Galen (Mary Lou) Palmer of Independence, Bob (Mary Ann) Palmer of Andover, Bill (Nancy) Palmer of Nipoma, Calif., and Steve (Minh Hong Le) Palmer of Wichita; sisters, Barbara (Mike) Falt of Lincoln, Neb., and Jane Colberg of Lyons; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS 66502 with Pastor Troy Bowers officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Manhattan with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Manhattan or Alzheimer’s Association, c/o Birzer Funeral Home, 214 West Avenue South, Lyons, KS. 67554.
