Ann Stanton

LARNED — Ann Stanton passed away on March 6, 2020. She was born on July 8, 1940 in Larned, Kan. to Robert and Kathleen (McMorran) Yeager. She spent her childhood growing up in Larned and graduated from Larned High School. She went on to attend the University of Kansas where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. Her adventures began and after traveling abroad for several months she moved to Laguna Beach, Calif. to teach elementary school. There she met the love of her life, Major Bobby Gene Stanton, who was stationed at El Toro Air Station serving in the Marines. They were married Aug. 9, 1964 in Larned at the First Presbyterian Church. After Bob retired from the Military, they settled in Larned, Kan. to raise their family and live out their lives.  

Ann enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, cooking, playing bridge, and was known for hosting many wonderful gatherings for friends and family in their home. Ann belonged to the PEO and was a member of the Lambda chapter of Chi Omega.  

Ann is survived by her husband Bobby Gene Stanton; children, Richard Stanton, Kim Stanton, and Cathy Haymaker; grandchildren, Jessica Haymaker-Parsons and Jennifer Haymaker; brother, Richard Yeager; and nieces and nephews, Jake Yeager, Luke Yeager, and Julie Cummings. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen (McMorran) Yeager and her father, Robert Yeager. 

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Reverend Jack Singer presiding. Visitation 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Inurnment in Larned Cemetery, Larned. In lieu of flowers and plants, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Beckwith Mortuary, PO Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.
