Arbutus Ann “Boots” Maltby, 80, passed away March 15, 2022, at Medicalodges of Kinsley. She was born on March 18, 1941, at Bison, Kansas to Joe G. & Hilda (VonFeldt) Basgall. She married Bobby Maltby on June 23, 1962, at Loretta, Kansas. He died July 15, 2021.
A current Great Bend resident, Boots had previously lived in Midland, Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Boots loved to cook and sew. She was also an avid reader.
Survivors include numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Maltby; her parents, Joe and Hilda Basgall; three brothers and their spouses, Marvin and Sandy Basgall, Eddie and Lily Basgall, and Delbert and MaryEllen Basgall; and her sister and brother-in-law Vera and Vern Bellendir.
An Altar Society Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2022, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., all at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Aneesh Parappanattu, and Father Terrance Klein presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Prince of Peace Parish, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
