Arlen David Eichman 1940 - 2010

SKIPPACK, Pa. — Arlen David Eichman, 70, died in Skippack, Pa. on Dec. 28, 2010. He was born in WaKeeney on Dec. 6, 1940, and was the adoptive son of Jacob and Clara (Deines) Eichman of Hoisington. Arlen grew up in Hoisington and was a 1958 graduate of Hoisington High School and a 1965 graduate of Bethany College in Lindsborg, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in music. He taught instrumental music in Dighton for two years, then entered the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Ind., where he obtained a master’s degree in brass music and pedagogy and pursued a doctorate. He became vice president of Paige Music Store in Indianapolis, Ind., toured with many major orchestras and bands as a trombonist, and was a sales representative for several musical instrument companies during his career.

Mr. Eichman was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1958-1961.

Survivors include former wives, Yvette LeersKov Ehrlich of Bakersfield, Calif., and Barbara Eichman of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Winona Schultz of Grapevine, Texas; two nephews; and a niece. He was preceded in death by both his parents, two nephews and a niece.

There will be no funeral service, as cremation has already occurred. The R.L. Williams Jr. Funeral Home of Skippack is in charge of arrangements.
