OTIS — Arlene Booth Thompson, 81, passed away on Aug. 22, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born July 15, 1934, she was the daughter of Oran and Flora Booth in Cambridge. Her early life was spent in and around the Cambridge area. She graduated from Cambridge High School and Arkansas City Junior College. On Oct. 10, 1954, she married Wayne Thompson. After raising her family, she returned to school and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in elementary education. She worked in the library and taught for many years in the Otis-Bison School District. After retirement, Wayne and Arlene enjoyed spending time at their lake house near Camdenton, Mo. Arlene loved family gatherings and cooking meals for everyone. She enjoyed working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens and was an avid KU basketball fan.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne; four children, Mark (Mary) Thompson of Topeka, Kirk (Joyce) Thompson of Lancaster, Kala (David) Blochlinger of Goodland, and Jill Schauer of Trenton, Ga.; one brother, James “Jim” (Linda) Booth of New Strawn; and two sisters-in-law, Jo Booth of Eustace, Texas and Sonja Booth of Clearwater. Arlene was blessed with 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Booth and Richard Booth.  
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Otis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Otis-Bison School. To leave a message for the family online, visit www.DoveCremation.com.
