The following are the draft minutes from the May 8 Stafford County Commission meeting.
The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, May 8, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Commissioner Wycoff called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Todd Wycoff, Jim Stanford, and Bryce Garner.
Commissioner Wycoff moved to reinstate Mark Clasen as Fire Chief for the Radium/Seward Fire Stations. Motion carried 3-0.
Senior students from Macksville High School came for a tour of the courthouse and stopped in each office for a short presentation regarding the duties and processes that occur in each department. The students began their tour by attending the first part of the county commission meeting. The commissioners addressed the students and explained the basics of what the duties of the board of county commissioners are.
Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to approve the minutes from the April 24th and May 1st sessions. Motion carried 3-0.
Carl Miller, Appraiser, presented his 2025 budget request of $210,910 which is a 12.27% increase from $187,860.00 in 2024.
Ryan Witt, presented his Noxious Weed and Environmental Services budgets for 2025. Noxious Weed is proposed at $113,000, unchanged from 2024. The proposal for Environmental Services for 2025 was also unchanged from 2024 at $8,800.
Jami Downing, Stafford City Administrator, presented information to the commissioners regarding a daycare project in Stafford. She explained this is the second part of a total project refurbishing an existing Main Street building. Jami went over the composition of the project and asked the commissioners for consideration in allocating funding towards this project.
Vanessa Cornwell, Treasurer, presented the 2025 proposed budget for her office of $224,200. This is a 4.7% increase from the 2024 budget of $214,600.
