Arlene L. Drake, 89, died Nov. 2, 2017, at her home in Great Bend. She was born April 13, 1928, at Ness City, the daughter of Clemens and Anna (Dinges) Riebel. She married Kenneth Marvin Drake Nov. 18, 1947, at Ness City. He died Nov. 21, 2007. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Drake was a clerk at McCoy’s Shoes.
Mrs. Drake was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Altar Society, and American Legion Argonne Post 180 Auxiliary. She was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Drake and his wife Diana of Great Bend, and Wayne Drake of Lawrence; one daughter, Janice Rosenholtz and her husband Raymond of Overland Park; five brothers, John Riebel and his wife Rita of Minneola, Victor Riebel and his wife Wilma of Ness City, Wilbert Riebel and his wife Mary Ann of Alamota, Melvin Riebel and his wife Norma of Cameron, Mo., and Leon Riebel of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Sr. Florentia Riebel, Sr. Leona Riebel and Sr. Barbara Riebel, all of Wichita; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Riebel, Norbert Riebel and George Riebel; and one sister, Sr. Winifred Riebel.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore celebrating. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
