RAYMOND — Arletta M. Fish, 85, of Raymond, Kan., passed away August 25, 2023, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. Arletta was born Feb. 16, 1938, near Susank, Kan. to Marion E. and Leona (Susank) Byers.
Arletta graduated from Hoisington High school in 1956. On March 23, 1958, she married Charles H. Fish in Hoisington, Kan., sharing just over 57 years of marriage.
Arletta is survived by a sister, Loree Gilpin of Pratt and a brother, Jim (Jacque) Byers of Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Craig R. (and wife) Fish of Great Bend, and Kirk L. (Tammy) Fish of Raymond; one daughter, Karyn M. (Kurt) Schemm of Derby; six grandchildre;n and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers and two sisters.
Arletta worked for USD 401 Chase/Raymond as a school bus driver for many years while assisting Charles with the family business, Fish Service Station in Raymond.
Arletta was a member of Raymond Baptist Church where she organized music, sang and played the organ for 54 years. Arletta enjoyed music, quilting, sewing, baking and an occasional slot machine. She was well known in her community for her ‘Arletta’s famous pies’.
Celebration of life will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Raymond Community Center. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, until the day of the service.
