Arlyn Lee McGinnes

LUCAS — Surrounded by his family, Arlyn Lee McGinnes, 51, passed away after a long illness, on Jan. 4, 2020, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born Nov. 5, 1968 in Larned, the son of Jim and Betty (Pike} McGinnes.

Arlyn was a graduate of Great Bend High School and attended Barton County Community College. He worked for his fathers business, Mac Clet Electric, as an electrician for many years, then at Superior Essex in Hoisington.

Arlyn married Jenny Donham, Dec. 2, 1989. There were three children born to this union. They later divorced. He married Dorothy Patterson Dec. 4, 2016 in Lucas.

Arlyn was a spiritual man and loved the Lord, spending time studying the Bible and other bibical writings. He also had a great love for his children. He enjoyed watching old westerns, riding motorcycles, fishing, reading, gardening, engraving names and pictures into limestone rocks, and spending time with his dog, Camo.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of the home; son Austin McGinnes, Hutchinson, Kan.; Jared Shelton of Great Bend; Jena Shelton and boyfriend Cole Smith and their son Jensyn of Stafford. His parents Jim and Betty McGinnes, Great Bend; brother Erick of Pawnee Rock; step-daughter Logan Taylor Wolfe; granddaughter, Brey Beasley; stepdaughter Lakin Madison Wolfe; and numerous aunts, uncles; cousins; nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Clarence E. Pike and Beatrice (Brant Pike) Honomichl of Larned; grandparents Edgard and Marie McGinnes of Fredonia. Three uncles, John and Jack. McGinnes of Coffeyville. and John Long of Cherryvale.

Graveside services wil be held at 2 p.m., Saturday 11, 2020 at Lucas Cemetery in Lucas. with Pastor Les Rye presiding. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lucas Area Community Theater or Grass Roots Art Center in care of Rodrick and Minear Funeral Home in Lucas.
