Arther Wayne Hunt, 83, died Sept. 17, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 12, 1931, in Silver City, Okla., he was the son of Elmer and Essie D. (Browning) Hunt. On Dec. 24, 1951, he married Shirley Rae Jones in Lyons. She died on March 31, 2013, after more than 61 years of marriage. He then married Faye (Gilmore) Fredelake on Dec. 28, 2014, in Hoisington. A long-time resident of Great Bend, he was a driller for Pickrell Drilling.
Mr. Hunt was a member of the First Street Church of God in Hoisington.
Survivors include his wife, Faye of the home; one son, Larry W. Hunt of Great Bend; one daughter, Dr. Catherine Strecker and her husband Monty of Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Ann Hunt Tolan and her husband Eric, Kristi Renea Hunt Lyons and her husband Stephen, Serena Marie Hunt Sheppard, Parry Sherman Hunt, Francis Wayne “Russ” Hunt and Reana, Jacob L. Strecker and his wife Andrea, Nicklaus A. Strecker and his wife Laura, Rachel C. Strecker, Rebecca R. Strecker, and Joanna R. Strecker; and 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way. He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Rae Hunt; and one brother, William Hunt, whose children he was instrumental in helping to raise: William Hunt Jr., Connie Carithers, Ladonna Sinnett and Teresa Andsanger.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
