Barbara F. Fox, 86, passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2020 at Wilson Care and Rehabilitation in Wilson, Kan. She was born on Sept. 12, 1933 in Larned, Kan. to CG and Leora (Nulf) Hammond. She was a 1950 graduate of Larned High School. Barbara was united in marriage to Melvin V. Fox on Jan. 5, 1952 in Larned. They were blessed with seven sons and two daughters.
Barbara worked as a Medical Records Designee at Wilson Nursing Center for several years and was also a farmer’s wife. She was very active and involved with the Catholic Church being a member of the Daughters of Isabella at St. Wenceslaus Church and the St. Joseph Altar Society in Dorrance. She loved spending time with her grandkids and also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, reading, and always enjoyed volunteering for the next activity that came around.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Melvin of Ellsworth; sons, Rocky (Linda) Fox of Pratt, Gary (Darla) Fox of Offerle, Roger (Debbie) Fox of Hoxie, and Calvin (Bonnie) Fox of Hoisington; daughter, Beverly (Mike) Wesley of Lake City; sister-in-law, Barbara Hammond of Larned; grandchildren, Toni (Jason) Flax, Jessica (Johnny) Howard, Amanda (Jon) Rucker, Christopher Wesley, Elizebeth (Mark) Fitch, Sarah (Auston) Burenheide, Lisa (William) Washington, Nicholas (Josie) Fox, Michael (Carrine) Fox, Chris (Cherie) Fox, Eric (Dani) Fox, Ericka (Josh) Kleweno, Brian (Billie) Fox, Evie Fox, Neilda Fox, Emily (Dallas) Harman, Jennifer Fox, Brandy Fox, Brooks (Alyssa) Fox, Brittany (Rob) Daughtry, Jody Fox, Theresa (Ron) Movilla, Tammy (George) Mullen, Tim (Christina) MacCord, Michael Fox, Dean Fox, Grace (Trey) Fox, Lukas Fox, Chad Brungardt, Jessica (Julian) Rose, Ashley (Jeremy) Ortiz, and Erica (Jose) Valles; and 60 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, CG and Leora; sons, Larry Fox, Terry Fox, and Matt Fox; daughter, Judy MacCord; brothers, Jim and David Hammond; sister, Patricia Young; and grandson; Trent Fox.
Barbara had a deep love and devotion for her husband, children, family and community. Her great love and faith in God was not only a constant source of strength for herself, but also for all who knew her. She will be remembered for her tender care, her contagious smile as bright as sunshine, and always there to help when needed. Her beautiful spirit will endure forever. Although she has now gone home to be with her Lord, the legacy of her love, laughter, and joy will live in our hearts and memories forever. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but the celebration of her life and memories will never be forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dorrance. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary/Vigil service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Wilson. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held Tuesday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
