GREAT BEND — Barbara L. (Koch) Hoar, 74, passed away at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center May 17, 2016.
Born in Great Bend on July 31, 1941, she was the daughter of Harry & Bernice (Parker) Koch. She married Barton Hoar on May 7, 1961 at the First Baptist Church, Ellinwood. She was an Air Force wife that made her home in many places but was a former resident of Ellinwood for 26 years. She moved to Great Bend for seven years where she worked as the church secretary of Central Baptist Church and was an active member. She also enjoyed oil painting and spending time with grandchildren.
Survivors include husband, Barton Hoar, Great Bend; daughters, Crystal Worm (John), Wichita; Cheryl Sciandra, Denver, Colo.; Brenda McCulley (Karl), Great Bend; Diane McReynolds, Ellinwood; a son, Darryl Hoar (Karen), Osborne; brothers, Marvin Koch, Ellinwood; Ron Koch, Great Bend; sisters, Gloria Roberts (Richard) Hutchinson; and Twila Bartels (Tom), Olathe. Other survivors include 11 dearly loved grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church in Great Bend with Rev. John Grummon & Rev. Gordon Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-8 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the Ellinwood Hospital Foundation in care of Minnis Chapel, 113 North Main, Ellinwood, KS, 67526.
