GREAT BEND – Barbara Lynn Wenke, 56, died Nov. 7, 2014 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
She was born Aug. 19, 1958 at Great Bend, the daughter of Sam and Marie Hilda (Wittman) Schenkel.
She married Jerry Wenke December 1980 at Great Bend. They later divorced. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a teacher at Head Start and a family support case worker at St. Francis Academy. Barbara was a very giving mother and grandmother, enjoying all her time with her grandkids, family and friends. Family was the most important thing in her life.
Survivors include two daughters: Briana White and her husband Dustin, Great Bend; and Emily Wenke, Great Bend; three sisters, Karen Hill and her husband Grover, Burlington, Colo.; Chris Menzer and her husband Mike, Great Bend; and Janet Stos and her husband Randal, Lenexa; a brother: Doug Schenkel, Great Bend; and five grandchildren, Kailee Adams, Kadin White, Jaelynn Adams, Kynslee White, and Kambryn White.
Funeral Service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home with officiants Dr. Don Matison and Jess Bielby, D. D. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Barbara Wenke Funeral Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
