Barry Myer Kalpin passed away January 26, 2021, in Tucson, Arizona.  He was a wonderful man, kind and thoughtful, with a quick wit and humorous nature.  

Born June 23, 1939, to Joe and Anna (Michaelson) Kalpin in Galveston, Texas.  The family, including younger sister, Yetta, moved to Anna’s hometown of Wewoka, OK.  Joe ran the family business, Wewoka Iron and Metal.  Barry growing up in the business, learned the ins and outs of the scrap metal business.  

Barry, graduating from Wewoka High School in 1957, was active in school activities as well as earning the Boy Scout rank of Eagle Scout.  He loved sports, primarily football. 

This passion allowed Barry to play football for Oklahoma A&M in Miami, OK.  He later attended the University of Oklahoma.

He soon found himself in Houston, TX working for his uncle.  Soon, migrating to Victoria, TX, where he met and married Josephine Gonzales.  The couple then moved to Houston, where daughters Lisa and Cindy were born.

A few years later, opportunity found itself at Acme Pipe & Steel, in Great Bend, KS.  Joining Joe and Anna, Barry brought the family to Kansas, where sons Michael and Steven were born.  In Great Bend, Barry became active in many social and community organizations.  This drive for community involvement resulted in Barry becoming a member of the city council for several years.  

A few years after Barry and Josie’s marriage ended, Barry married Marilyn Norton.  

After many years working together at Acme, in 2000, Barry and Marilyn retired to Green Valley, AZ.  Sadly, soon after moving to Arizona Marilyn passed away.   

A few years later, Barry met and married Diane Bart.  This marriage allowed sixteen wonderful years together. Barry is survived by wife Diane, many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
