LARNED — Bernice S. Zook, 91, passed away Nov. 20, at Diversicare of Larned. She was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Stafford County, the daughter of Owen E. and Powerley Gilliland Smith. A lifetime area resident, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.
She belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Larned, the Zook EHU. She developed a passion for cooking.
On April 21, 1946, she married Milford E. Zook in Larned. Milford passed away July 5, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Smith, and a sister, Erma Estes.
She will be forever remembered by four sons, John Zook; son, James (Jane) Zook and their children Denny Zook, Jesse Zook, Jacqueline Zook, Deanne (David) Locke and Elizabeth, Carolyn (Jacob) Robison and Alexandra; son, Dean (Kathy) Zook and their children Aaron (Roxi) Zook and Conner, Holly (Stephen) Milligan and Zokora; Kelsey (Jason) Lueger; son, Dale (Beth) Zook and their children Amy (Jay) Derley and Adrianna and Dallas; Stacy (Michael) Trout and Colborn and Zavier.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned, with the Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary.  Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Zook. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Larned or the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
