LARNED — Betty J. Fleske, 88, died April 13 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born May 8, 1923, in Pawnee County, she was the daughter of Elmer and Bessie Flick Kirkwood. On Sept. 15, 1948, she married Elmer Fleske at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albert. He died on April 4, 1994. A lifetime area resident, she worked on the farm with her husband for many years.
Mrs. Fleske was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Lutheran Woman Missionary League and was a charter member of the Gem Unit, all of Larned.
Survivors include a son, Bill, of Larned; three daughters, Kathy Bruner of Great Bend, Karen Crosby of Pawnee Rock and Jane Fox of Larned; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arlyn Kirkwood, and a sister, Frances Kirkwood.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Richard Langness presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Grace Lutheran Church or the United Way both in care of the funeral home.
