Bill Johnson McKown, 58, died March 19, at his home in Great Bend. Born Nov. 2, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Okla., he was the son of George Monnet  and Martha Lu (Johnson) McKown. Mr. McKown was a Great Bend resident since 1965, coming from Wichita.
Survivors include three brothers, David McKown and his wife Jan of Great Bend, Charles McKown and his wife Gina of Fort Scott, and James McKown and his wife Meg of Stilwell; seven nieces and nephews, Jenna McKown, Justin McKown, Josh McKown, Michelle Calvert, William McKown, Cole McKown, and Cade McKown; and six grandnieces and nephews.
A joint memorial service for Bill and his mother, Martha Lu (Johnson) McKown will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the First Christian Church in Great Bend with Pastor Josh Leu officiating. At Mr. McKown’s wish, his body was donated for scientific research at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City. Memorials are requested to Boy Scouts of America, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
