Bille Lou Burgardt, 61, died April 1 at Rock Island Rehab and Nursing Center in Rock Island, Ill. Born Feb. 18, 1950, in WaKeeney, she was the daughter of Fred J. and Christina (Mai) Mai. She married Elmer S. Burgardt on Aug. 11, 1989, in WaKeeney.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Great Bend; three stepsons: Elmer Burgardt Jr. and Joseph Burgardt, both of Great Bend, and Sean Bollig of Ellis; two stepdaughters, Angela Lemonds of Hutchinson and Rhonda Hill of Granby, Colo.; four brothers, Melvin Mai and wife Delores of New Orleans, La., Kenneth Mai and wife Georgeann of Shawnee, Richard Mai and wife Barbara of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Donald Mai and wife Shirley of WaKeeney; six sisters, Alvina Zeh and husband Gene of Hemet, Calif., Marie Kroeger and husband Curt of Florence, Ore., Darlene Young and husband Bill, and Betty Stone, all of Spring Valley, Calif., Evelyn Clark and husband Don of Morland, and Sharon Bell and husband Doyle of Centennial, Colo.; six step-grandchildren: Jenson Hill and Madaline Hill, both of Granby, Colo., and Alexis Lemonds, Amanda Burgardt, Christian Burgardt and Trey Burgardt, all of Great Bend; and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Emanuel; one sister, Irene; two brothers-in-law, Frank Hockman and Bill Stone; and one sister-in-law, Vicki Mai; three nephews, Bruce Hockman, Kevin Mai and Dale Scott; two nieces, Becky Mai and Donna Mai; one step-granddaughter, Rickie Olsen; and one step-grandson Bryan Burgardt.
Memorial services will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Great Bend. Memorials are requested to the American Diabetes Association or the funeral expense fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
