ULYSSES — Billie M. Carter, 84, died on April 3 at her home in Ulysses. Born June 30, 1927, in Ulysses, she was the daughter of William and Beatrice (Wolfe) Elliott. On May 23, 1947, she married Robert M. (Bob) Carter in Ulysses. He died on Oct. 31, 2001. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Carter attended the Patterson Avenue Church of God in Ulysses.
Survivors include her children, Robert Bruce Carter and Gayla June Lund, both of Ulysses, Frances Ann Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lonnie Bryan Carter of Great Bend, and Stacy Lynne Taylor of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; a brother, Gail Elliott of Sequim, Wash.; two sisters, Karen Harbour of Ulysses and Vickie Smith of Great Bend; 15 grandchildren 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by siblings Robert Elliott, Betta Neiderer, Gerald Elliott and Lou Elliott; and a grandson, Robert P. (Robbie) Carter.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Patterson Avenue Church of God in Ulysses with the Rev. Earl Heath Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled Veterans in care of the funeral home.
