Bonnie E. Decker   1929 - 2010

 

LA CROSSE — Bonnie E. Decker, 80, died Aug. 17 at the Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse. Born Oct. 27, 1929, at Hays, she was the daughter of Elmer W. and Mary (Seuser) Ficken. She was a 1947 graduate of Bison High School, and received her teaching certificate after high school. She married Melvin E. Decker on Aug. 10, 1951. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1988. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Decker was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lone Star Club and Henry Stang VFW Auxiliary, all of Bison.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Decker, Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Sharon Klein, Bison, Sheryl Fischer, Council Grove, and Donna Jay, Topeka; three brothers, Dale Ficken, Hays, Warren Ficken, Damar, and Donald Ficken, Londonderry, N.H.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Scheuerman; a grandson, Corey Scheuerman; two brothers, Clint Ficken and Bruce Ficken; and a sister, Dorothy Ruth Ficken.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the Rev. David Bolz officiating. Burial will be at Lone Star Cemetery in Bison. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse; South Wind Hospice, Pratt; or the United Methodist Church, Bison.
